Concert tickets for 2006

January 3, 2006 at 8:06 AM

It’s time to annotate one of my 2006 calendars with information on tickets I’ve already purchased. Here is what I’ve got.

  • Feb. 26. Gil Shaham directing the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and playing violin. Program: Arensky: Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5(“Turkish”), and Tchaikovsky: Souvenir de Florence
  • Feb. 24. Marian McPartland with her trio
  • April 4. Yo-Yo Ma. Program: Bach Cello Suites 3, 5, and 6. (I have these on his CD, but I’d get up from my deathbed to hear him play them in person.)
  • April 24. Itzhak Perlman (violin) and Pinchas Zukerman (violin/viola). Program: Bach: Sonata for Two Violins and Continuo, Mozart: Duo for Violin and Viola in G Major, K. 423, Leclair: Sonata for Two Violins in F Major, Op. 3, No. 4 , and Moszkowski: Suite for Two Violins and Piano in G minor, Op. 71. (I have a CD made long ago with Perlman and Zukerman playing the Mozart and the Leclair, but I’d get up from my deathbed to hear them play these in person, too.)

A stellar season!
