ADOLF BUSCH is GREAT!!

Dear reader,

What a long time it has been since I wrote the last time! I still have been reading some of your entries, to keep in thinkshape.
To many things on the agenda, concert after concert. I must say does anybody know how wonderful the great violinist Adolf Busch can compose!!?
I played his pianotrio this summer and was so suprised by his music. Of course we know the Busch quartet, but if you want some spectacular piece in late romantic style...... Also on the program were many interesting composers, you can read them back on www.hortuskamermuziekfestival.nl
. After that I bought my second violin! Well I´m playing again and it gives me again a deeper understanding of music in general and sound (read vibration) in particular. Because you have your whole body attached to the violin, I feel better the way I want to make sound, it also changed my attitude towards the piano again.

I dont say I lost contact with the strings, but it is different experience, to touch the sound almost (violin) or having to play a key that produces sound, milliseconds later..

When I teach I try to show piano-students to listen over the musicstand and not to play like a typewriter (worstcase scenario), or think that way. I try to let them touch the strings anyway the very FIRST lesson.
As a matter of fact, I first let them touch the strings, and then explain what sound is etc.. coming towards the keys the next lesson.

Well I should go back to study!
