How simular are Ukulele Chords to Guitar cords?

You've got to remember that the Ukelele and the Guitar are very different - for one thing the Uke only has 4 strings, as opposed to the guitar's 6. Also the Uke has different tuning. Standard tuning is C E G A but the C and the E are the middle strings, the G is the top string when you are playing it.

Ukes are tuned *exactly* the same way as the top four strings on a guitar, but up a 4th, and the string closest to your head is tuned up an octave. (Some players use a lower string here when they play a "tenor' whi;e others do not. Also in some places the tuning is one semitone higher.)

Any chord shape you know from standard guitar tuning will work on the uke, but it will be different by a 4th (higher) or a 5th (lower).

Ben's tuning description is confusing.

Here is an easier way of writing it, as if you are looking at the uke hanging on the wall:

g C E A

Note that the g is a small letter to remind you that it is tuned up an octave.
