I just discovered another beautiful unknown piece of Vieuxtemps for violin + piano. A funny piece start at 5.46 minutes:
Youtube is a good way to promote your composer or a piece of that composer. Here the relative less known 2th violinconcerto (compared to his 4th and 5th violinconcerto) of Vieuxtemps, played by Petru Cotarcea (11):
You probably know the sweetaparatus where you can gets sweets for money. Tonight I had an orchestral rehearsal in a musicbuilding with musicschool and I saw a stringsaparatus (Dominant and Antoni) for a loose E,A,D,G-string, but also a set of violinstrings, left next to the sweetaparatus, which I also photograhped. They also had (Martin)guitarstrings, drumsticks and clarinetreed and hoboreed. Have you ever seen such a thing before? I was flabergasted.
Naxos has released 1th (Concert Romantique) and 2th violinconcerto of Benjamin Godard (pupil of Henri Vieuxtemps) with Chloe Hanslip GODARD V.C'S 1+2 GODARD: Violin Concerto No. 2 / Concerto romantique / Scenes poetiques As a boy Benjamin Godard was a celebrated violin prodigy, but later turned to composition as his life's work. With the notable exception of the ever-popular Berceuse from the opera Jocelyn, the most of Godard's works have fallen out of the repertoire. A thorough romantic in the Schumann-Mendelssohn mould, Godard was best known for his short atmospheric pieces and stave works, while his short piano pieces have recently garnered new respect. Two of his most successful longer works are the Concerto Romantique and the Violin Concerto No. 2, both featuring deft virtuoso writing for the violin and the romantic sensibility of the mid-19th century.

Joachim’s Violin Concertos Recorded in Weim February 29, 2008
Although he composed relatively little music, the great 19th century violinist Joseph Joachim was an incalculably influential musician, his works firmly rooted in the romantic tradition of his close friend Johannes Brahms.
Joachim's seldom performed violin concertos were recorded for Naxos by the Staatskapelle Weimar under the baton of Michael Halász: Violin Concerto in one movement in G minor, Op. 3 (1855) and Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 11, "Konzert in ungarischer Weise" (1861). The soloist was the talented young Korean violinist Suyoen Kim. Winner of the 2006 International Violin Contest in Hannover, Suyoen Kim is rapidly developing a reputation as one of the finest musicians of her generation.
Sessions took place from 18 to 20 February at the Weimarhalle in Weimar, Germany. The recording was produced, in Surround Sound, by Eckhard Glauche. The engineer was Christian Feldgen.
Naxos is doing a great job instead of other recording companies recording the Beethoven, Brahms, Bruch and Mendelssohn violinconcerto's for the 124th, 135th, 321th and 299th time. Now this music is available on cd and you can compare those Joachim violinconcerto's with other well known violinconcerto's. We are waiting for the release.
