Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst, violinconcerto op.23 + other pieces for violin+ orchestra

April 4, 2007 at 10:50 AM

2 days ago I got a Naxos-cd from Hong Kong from Jon Frohnen with the violinconcerto of Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst op.23 and, worldpremiererecording!!, the Concertino of Op.12 of Ernst for violin + orchestra and other pieces of Ernst for violin + orchestra.

I hope to hear those pieces ever in the concerthall or play them with an amateurorchestra once.

Wow. I'd never seen a portrait of Ernst before. He is exactly as hot as I'd imagined him.

I've seen the music to the solo part for his F-sharp minor concerto. I was impressed with how much of it was just octaves.
