Last friday I played with an amateurorchestra near Rotterdam Symfony Espagnole from E.Lalo with Pei Pei Zhu. She had won in 1990 the international violinVieuxtemps-competition in Verviers. Next year on 21 oktober 2006 there is again an international competition in Verviers in Belgium, the place where Henri Vieuxtemps was born (in 1820) and the candidates have to play the 2th violinconcerto of Vieuxtemps. The maximum age for competitors is 30, a bit higher than 27 the maximum age for the Queen Elisabethcompetition in Brussel, Belgium and there won’t be 133 candidates for the first round, so a bigger chance to reach the finals. I have all 7 violinconcerto’s of Henri Vieuxtemps and I like to hear for the first time in my life a violinconcerto of this composer in the concerthall. Vieux Temps is also a Belgian beer, which I buy in Belgium, because I like the composer (and the beer). The website for the competition is www.vieuxtemps.be
