Some community symphony orchestras have auditions and some don't. If you want to try an orchestra that doesn't have auditions, go there for a couple of rehearsals, bring home the music to practice, go back and play again, and see whether you feel comfortable with it.

Community orchs are a lot of fun. Mine is playing our spring concert tonite. You should try to join. Almost any community orch can use a string player, even if you are last stand. You are almost certainly good enough. Go for it!

Go for it!!! I've been playing less than 6 months, and I'm in one. We just finished a concert last nite, and one more to go tonight. We will be doing Haydn and it's LOADS of fun!!

Hi Daniel:
I think you should considering joining a community orchestra.
The attached link has a pretty comprehensive list of CO in Western Washington. It might be a place to start...good luck!
