hardly a cirque, as artsy as it can be.

I've only seen it once, or maybe twice, back when I lived in CA, but I really enjoyed it. It's different from your average circus, true, but it really showcases the diversity of what the human body can do. That's what I remember most about it--the striking, even breathtaking, visuals. Surprisingly, now that you mention it, I can't really recall the music.

I do not recall the music either, but I liked Cirque the one time I saw it.

Yes, it's all about being artsy. At the risk of sounding like a snob, I must say that "real" circuses have never appealed to me. There was this tired "carnie" taint to it all. Oh, that sounds just awful. It's just that I've always been hugely drawn to Olympic gymnastics and the spectacle of that, and then the ballet, my love and performance outlet for many years. Now, with my hunger for good, theatrical music ever increasing, it's no surprise Cirque is such a good fit for me.
And Karen and Tom, hunt down one of the CDs I mentioned - the music is as creative and artfully arranged as the whole production.
