I prefer to sit on the right. If the seating has us on the other side of the orchestra, that puts me on the inside, but typically I sit on the outside. But always on the right. It's a scoliosis thing.

I can see better on the left than the right, because when I'm on the right I'm practically looking over my shoulder to keep my scroll out of my stand partner's line of vision. I don't mind turning pages, playing easier parts, and sometimes not playing at all.

I also can see better sitting on the left, both music and conductor.

I have much better vision on the left of the stand and I am also a very fast page-turner.

left..much better sightline and no stiff neck from tilting funny trying to see. Also, everyone thinks I am just being nice offering to sit inside but it is just easier for me to see and play.

I really don't care which side I sit on!

Sitting on the inside you can text message and play video games and the audience is none the wiser. ;)

Hmmm, its kind of weird, but now that I think of it, I think I've only sat on the inside once, so I really can't decide. I agree it's easier to see the conductor on the left, but on the right, I'm not as worried about hitting someone with my bow arm. So, eh, I'm fine either way really.

While I prefer to sit on the outside, sitting on the inside can be fun. Sometimes I would to tease my stand partner by fumbling around on a page turn. If they get a panicked look on their face you know they haven't memorized the measures on the next page. BTW, don't try this during a live performance!
