Every time I read your blog, I really feel for you. You have a very good approach to teaching which is wasted on most, if not all, of your students. Hang in there. A friend of mine used to work on the nyphil website. She became a full-time mom a few years ago and moved to NJ, so she doesn't do it anymore, but the basic design of the site and at least the ideas for many of the features are still hers. She'd get a kick out the fact that you're using it in class!
