I lost my first tooth at four. It was really scary, and I haven't forgotten the fear. I remember hanging onto my Mom and wailing. I don't think anyone had explained to me that my teeth were going to fall out. I was a tooth-losing prodigy! Interesting, how those traumas stay with you...
Also, the going rate for my student's tooth loss seems to be around $20.00. And just what is the tooth fairy's e-mail address?

Isn't that first loose tooth fun?! Hope it falls out soon, too. Ben made quite an ordeal out of the whole thing. I made him a special pillow that has a tiny pocket on the front of it. He puts the tooth in, and when he wakes up in the a.m. there's a shiny gold dollar in its place.

Anne- $20? Per tooth? You're kidding, right? My daughter has been happy with Sacajewea dollar coins so far from the tooth fairy. One for each tooth. Haven't hit 20 yet . . .
I think the most fun for a 5-yo is finding something under the pillow. I remember my first one being loose too, I was afraid I was going to get in trouble, but it was just the opposite.

Not everybody gets $20.00, but many do. I think I got a nickel, but that was the 70's.

Hmm. 2 kids. 40 baby teeth between them at $20 a pop. $800?!! I don't think the tooth fairy in these parts is quite that wealthy.
