Morning is the best time to practice for me. I am most alert and not tired from a hard day's work. Whether it is dark or light out, I am at my best then.

I am an AM practicer. I am way too brain-dead after a day of teaching to even try to do anything remotely productive in the evening. The only time I ever practiced in the PM was when I had a symphony job that ran rehearsals 10:00am-12:30pm, plus 2:00-4:00pm. Then I HAD to do most of my practicing at night, and boy, did I ever resent it. Bleh.

Off to practice Lalo...

Practice right before school in the morning? Gsh... I barely have enough time to wake up and get dressed in the morning... let alone practice.

I suppose if I wake up earlier in the morning and practice before school I would be in a good mood and have more energy... Maybe a late new years resolution?.. better yet.. a chinese New year resolution!

I always think I should practice in the morning instead of late at night; I'm definitely more alert. But yeah, it's hard to drag "my sorry butt out of bed" (love that :) ), dark or light. However, I will try. You have inspired me.

I wake up before 5:00am everyday. I would try it but my neighbors would hate me!

Richard - my wife and I both get up at 5:30 every morning. But my kids, when they were your age, could not get up that early. Some day you will see the advantages of rising early, but probably not until you are working for a living.

Richard, I think you just have to get older and then your internal clock shifts and getting up early is easier again. Teenagers notoriously have trouble getting up early. But I think that's largely due to circadian biology.

When I practiced in the morning before high school I was up anyway because my parents' TV came on every morning at 6:30 a.m. right on the other side of the thin wall that separated our bedrooms. I couldn't sleep through that, but I could practice through it :)

Nowadays I have been using my practice mute so that the neighbors (and my family) don't complain.

I really like the feeling when it's only 7 a.m. and I've already accomplished something!

I think you are all just crazy for getting up that early.. Just kidding.

Maybe someday I will get up that early to practice. Maybe... but even if I did get up that early I am curious if I would have enough energy to practice. I am not a morning person lol.
