Shipbreaking is an extraordinarily hazardous occupation carried out in some of the world's poorest regions, for instance Bangladesh.

It is definitely a great subject for dramatic photographs.

Look up an article on this subject in THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY from about 10 years ago (maybe 7 years ago). Great B/W photos in there.

Hey Linda, That's not actually lava! It's nickle tailings and that picture was taken in Sudbury, Ontario.
