No. Musicians are not normal people. That said, practicing vibrato for 20 mins and scales for an hour is a sure way to improve your technique (provided you're practicing them the right way.)

Ah! Conflicting responses, one of you says I'm normal...the other not...AH! *self destructs*

On the bright side, I'm confident I'm practicing my scales correctly! Vibrato...I'm sure I am, I'm just trying to get more fluid and consistent as vibrato is my major weakness.

Glad you like the picture!!!

I refuse to accept that "normal" actually exists

Good photo. From the prom series. I'd show you my prom pic but it would scare you as the bow tie and lapels are really wide or really narrow, I can't remember which.

As far as normal goes, well, it certainly is within Lisa's guidelines.

Time flies when you practice "boring" things on violin.

Actually violin and Ham radio are both the same that way. They both suck up enormous amounts of time without feeling like it.

Work on the other hand is never done and the clock is always going too slow if it is boring, or too fast if the deadline is approaching.

OK enough rambling.

Bill, thanks for that amusing post. I promise you the bowtie would not shock me if you care to share photo. :)!!

Well apparently the clock is ticking too fast for me at the moment.

*goes back to scales*

Kelsey, you are nowhere near normal. That's ok though, because I'm not either.

Lisa's guidelines?

The only people who are normal are the ones you haven't met.

hehe, Pauline! Lisa is Lisa Marsnik (she used to post on here) and she's been helping me out with my wrist vibrato and helping me stay as "sane" as one can when practicing it. :)
