Beethoven and Thoreau is a rather strange combination. Beethoven would go better with Goethe or Schiller. Tchaikovsky goes perfectly with Pushkin, Rachmaninov is great with Lermontov and Mendelssohn is ideal for Shakespeare. :)

Ugh, I hate that poetry thing! Classical music is to be enjoyed on its own, not as background music for some other form of auditory art.
