From Janine's website • Janine Jansen - Queen of the Downloads 4th April 2006
Printed in The Independent (UK):
She's the violinist that classical fans want most on their iPods. But just who is Janine Jansen? Michael Church finds out.
...the most prominent iTunes instrumentalist is a young Dutch fiddler named Janine Jansen. Sales of her new Vivaldi record are, says Decca's vice-president, Jonathan Gruber, a "digital phenomenon".
I think the reason for her popularity is clear: Bram has done a great job of promoting her:-)

you were in Darmstadt!! I lived there for 3.5 years. Maybe it's not the most beautiful german city but you can really get to love it.
..and miss it.

btw, Darmstadt means Gutcity or "city of the gut", don't ask me why...
Nevertheless, it's a great city :)

We were in Darmstadt on the first day of Easter. All shops were closed and we could not find a restaurant, except for a Thai restaurant. But is was so hot, that I was sweating out of my nose. So after a beer, a cola, a glass of water, a Thai waitress took my dish away and she pointed to things that were not sharp. So the second dish was good food. But Darmstadt was very modern, because it is bombarded much in the 2th world war. Heidelberg was not bombarded and there are a lot of colored houses in green, yellow or green painted on the plaster.(Why don't they do that with houses in Holland?) Only the old"Sydney"/Janine"bridge was blown up by German troops on 29 march 1945 and rebuild in 1946/1947.

The Germans bombed their own territory?
From Jesus Contreras Espada Posted from 85.124.130.54 on April 20, 2006 at 5:14 AM (GMT)
Of course. In 1945 they were already retreating and blowing bridges to make the enemy invasion difficult. Unfortunately you see such things in every war.
I'm sure I've also eaten in that Thai restaurant (near the Schloss?). I think I've tried all Thai's in Darmstadt :)

Bram, you have a talent for finding pretty women wherever you go.
I love the card with the cat and the mice.

The Thai restaurant was in a shopping-street near a square which crosses 2 shopping-streets near a Roman looking 19th century theather.
