Oddly enough, I'm starting to like scales too. Part of it had to do with realizing that scales, which may seem simple to the uninitiated, are actually quite difficult to execute properly. And at today's lesson my teacher was positively thrilled - the intonation of my G major scale (scale of the week) was "perfect" for the very first time. So I'm suddenly jazzed about scales. :)

I know the feeling! Scales were formerly those things I "had to do" and then, I realized that I liked them. That took a few years! I'm glad I value them as I should now.
Congrats to you on your new outlook!

I read somewhere, that supposedly Heifetz neighbor once said that "...[he] would play scales up to 4 hours a day.... and that they were the most beautiful scales ever!"

My lessons are mainly Sevcik and Sitt. So naturally, scales are a welcome diversion for me.

Amazing. I discovered a love of scales my last semester at college. It has caused my summer teacher to compliment me on my intonation...something that's never been done before yesterday, haha. Congrats on developing the love too!!
