I could not think of a more valuable and practical scripture for a violinist doing auditions!
I will frame this!
Thanks!!

What a fascinating masterclass - he comes over as as very inspiring teacher - full of great tips and comments. Thanks for the report.
Laurie: Is that his Guadagnini that he is playing? Lovely sound <drool>!

Rosalind, only he could say for sure if he was playing it this day, but yes, his bio says that he plays on a 1757 J. B. Guadagnini from Milan.

David is a sketch for sure.....He attended high school in the district where I taught, and even though he was flying to NYC for lessons, still auditioned for the little scholarship our county music teachers' group offered. Being on the committee, we asked about his stimulus for playing violin. True to his continued light-heartedness, he replied that he had the equivalent of a Jewish mother in that, when she found out she was pregnant, her first move was to purchase a violin ! He continued with the fugue and presto from the g minor Bach sonata....in the flawless yet personal style he has exhibited over the years.
