university of houston and auditioning for the school of music

October 21, 2009 16:55

I need advice...I haven't gotten to audition for my Tech's school of music and I'm a sophomore. i also don't have lessons right now and i don't know if i will be able to pick them up again with the same person. i'm wanting to transfer to university of houston next fall or if i can manage this spring. the problem is that regardless of transferrable credits, i have not been allowed to take any music classes for my intended violin performance major yet and it looks like i won't be able to audition for any school of music until my senior year so that i can be prepared to get in. this means that i may be going to school for another 6 years until i get my bachelors degree and i want to avoid that. i know that at tech they don't offer many, or possibly any, music classes in summer school and i don't know how to lessen my time in undergraduate school. i also don't know what kind of choice i have in houston in the way of teachers or how much they will charge, but i'm guessing the same ~$50 or more an hour. i don't know how i will be able to afford anything like that...does anyone have any suggestions of any sort? i would appreciate them so much!!! thanks.
