![]() Accompianment CD?March 14, 2007 at 8:51 PM Recently, I have signed up to Volunteer at the VA hospital, playing the violin or piano. But I am incredibly uncomfortable playing without an accompianment. Does anyone know any good CD's that they know of or have used for accompianments? It was 60 Degrees here today, what a refreshing change! From Karen Allendoerfer
A long time ago there was a series called "Music Minus" consisting of a recorded orchestral part without the solo. My violin teacher in 7th grade gave me a tape of the Bach A minor concerto, Music Minus, so I could play along with it (I mention that because you'd said you were playing that piece in church). The "Solos for Young Violinists/Violists" series also has nice accompaniment CD's.

There are lot's of music minus one type recordings available-you can pretty much pick any style you want. This will be a great way to get more experience playing in front of people (and a wonderful thing to do).

Richard, that is very kind of you to volunteer at the VA. Why don't you push yourself out of your comfort zone and just play by yourself? You might surprise yourself...Posted on March 15, 2007 at 1:16 AM Also, it was 78 degrees here. Everybody is talking about the weather, but no one is doing a thing about it.

You could play some unaccompanied Bach! :)

It isn't soo much a comfort issue as it is a time issue. I would LOVE to play some unaccompianned stuff, but I am talking starting in 2 weeks. So I am considering doing an easy piece (ie the one i am preparing now, Vivaldi's concerto in A minor). Posted on March 15, 2007 at 7:12 PM I actually just submitted something in the disscussions about Catholic appropriate pieces. This entry has been archived and is no longer accepting comments. |
