Melting Rosin?

August 9, 2006 at 4:16 AM

Lately, well actually about 6 months ago I bought new rosin as I normally do. Except this time I got a much higher quality and more expensive rosin than I normally do. My normal rosin costs about $2 but I spent $9.99 on this one. But I love the difference that it makes. But this one is in wooden blocks instead of a round in a cloth that I am used to, and there is that huge indent from rosining the bow. I have heard you can melt the rosin in the microwave to melt it into a block again. Is this true? how do you do it? Thanks for the help!
ALSO: This is a pic of me and my tuba! I will take one with my violin also when I get it back! I love my tuba and my violin! Ps.. you might want to right click on it and click "reload picture with full quality" Because it is all screwed up otherwise...

Goodness, it must be really hard carrying a tuba around. French horns are more twisty and cool-looking.

Before you melt the rosin, sprinkle some brown sugar on top of it. Serve with chocolate ice cream. or...Forget the rosin and just eat the ice cream.

I love love LOVE my tartini rosin, but they had stopped making it... and the day i found that out i dropped mine and it like shattered! So my friend recommended melting it... and i tried it, basically just watch it, DONT LEAVE IT! it seemed to h ave been taking a long time so i left it for like 30 seconsd and when i came back it was melting too much! if i had caught it in that time it would have been perfect. However i definately still saved a bunch of it! (i also found two on back stock so i have two perfect ones too hehe) Rosin makes a HUGE difference for me... like this one i know was like $30 or more.. the only reason i got it in the first place was i got it for free when i got my violin/bow/case from this one dealer... but now im sold on it and would never have anything else!!
