Happy New year Everyone! Anyone got an resolutions they intend to keep?
Here is mine: My New Year's resolution is to practice Orchestra music more. I tend to not practice orchestral material but more my lesson material. I am hoping to balance these out!

Me and my little sister with our instruments. That is her Baritone (in the form of a valve trombone), and that is my sousaphone. My tuba is still being fixed :(. What is taking them so long?
My sister before my last nutcracker Performance. It was right on the lake! (inside a theater of course).
Wait, a swan in the middle of a lake in the middle of December? In NY? I think this weather is a little unseasonable!

Only 13 days until Christmas, so much to do, so little time. Presents to buy still, and a christmas tree still to be put up!
I have a test in every subject on the Friday before Christmas Vacation. Crazy teachers!

Well I got the results of the Allcounty audition. I got second place, which normally would ensure me a seat, but this year they opted to go with one instead of 2 tubas :(. But the person I lost to is RPYO and has played since 5th grade (I've informally met her). And the person I beat was also a senior, played since 4th grade. So I am happy that I was good enough to beat him.
Also the only person from RedJacket that got in was a middle schooler for middle school band allcounty. So it wasn't like I was the only one that didn't get in!

Well My all county audition was today! It was... shall I say less than Perfect. But the good thing is that I got to listen to the other 2 auditions. My etude was actually virtually flawless (dispite the fact that I slowed down on one phrase). But my scales and sighreading, not so much. The sightreading screwed me all up because they had one measure drag across the whole the page, which in my mind made me slow down. The scales, well they asked me to play an A flat scale. I go up the scale and they stop me, asking me to empty my 3rd valve. I tell them that it is jammed, they try to fix it, it just worstens. And then they ask me to play the scale again, and I screw it up (played a D natural). But the other 2 scales I was more comfortable with, G and E major.
The Nutcracker's final showing was a bit from home yesterday, about 2 hours, driving with my parents. We had a pit seriously about 30' wide and about 10' back. And we weren't allowed to sit up against any front row seats, because yah, they decided to sell them! And if we wanted the extra 2' by sitting up against the seats, the orchestra would HAVE to Buy them!! It was a nightmare. The Woodwinds were in one single filed line, and the 2nd Violins were BEHIND the firsts! The celli behind the violas and the harp piano and percussion were just shoved into one corner. An experience I would rather not experience again!
