Archive: Apr. 7, 2005 at 7:45 AMWell a few weeks have passed since my last entry, thought it was about time l updated it.Lessons are going well, still only basic stuff but finally starting to see some progress, actually starting to hear tunes now which l did'nt think would be at all possible!First and second finger now pretty much mastered, just need to speed it up abit my teacher reckons, gettinjg there slowly, one of the other members to violinist.com said that all the confusion will fall away like warm summer rain once we started lessons and it has,l thank all the people out there for their support in the early stages it made the learning process a whole lot easier, and gave us more confidence to go and learn a new instrument, anyway having fun and learning heaps although playing with a sore shoulder and bowing arm l found out is'nt much of a joy,to much firewood collecting ready for winter, practising approx half hour a day, teacher says thats enough to start off with, but not really finding it enough seem to just keep going and when l look at the time it's usually been an hour, don't even realise l'm doing it!Guess that means l'm enjoying myself, well signing off for now things to do.
Feb. 6, 2005 at 10:26 PMWell here we are with the new year well under way,our music school has only just gone back after the long summer break(if you could have called it summer l can only recall a handful of hot days the whole season, have'nt had a need to pull out the swimwear this year!)Anyway as l said our local music school has just gone back, and we had our first lesson with our new teacher Sarah, what a patient and lovely person she is,we went over techniques of care and handling of the violin and bow, correct positioning of the instrument in order to play correctly, and correct hand position(l think the hand's are going to be sore for a while until we get used to using them in such a different way!)
Dec. 19, 2004 at 6:36 AMHi,were Andrew and Trudi, and today we made noise from our violins (thanks mainly to those people that gave us the info on how to rosin our bows)!,it probably sounded absolutely terrible, but to us it was the best thing that we have ever heard. We spent some time learning to get to know the strings with an open hand, and to learn how to tune(this we still need to brush up on and probably will for some time to come). It certainly bought a smile to our faces
