So here are my "exciting" summer activities:

I am taking a couple online teacher courses this summer. The content is ok, but the delivery is well..YAWN. At least I can pause the lecturer whenever I want. I also bought a 3/4 size folk guitar for school(3/4 size so I wouldn't kill my hands), but I haven't done much with it yet. Then I have been doing school work with my daughters, so their brains do not turn into mush. We've had a road trip to visit grandma in Pittsburgh, a 1500 mile round trip from Macon. My mom is 80 and lives in a little apartment in a senior citizen's retirement building. We also saw two of my sisters who also live nearby. My husband stayed home to paint bedrooms and prepare some music scores for a little music festival on Beaver Island in the middle of Lake Michigan.

Not too many gigs this summer-I have a couple more weddings to play, although I am pretty sure they won't have a Great Dane as a ring bearer like the last one. Then I have to return to school on July 31. At least when I return, I will be splitting my time between 2 elementaries, doing strings in one building and elementary music in another.

So if you know anyone looking for the challenges of teaching in an urban environment, the middle school portion of my job and a high school orchestra job remain unfilled (see ASTA website).

Now back to Cinderella (my almost 5 yr old) and her artwork.
